“My job is killing me.”

“Work is stressing me out.”

Almost every working woman and man in this world have heard someone say these phrases or even said these words themselves. There are always some complaints about “the job.”

Employers think that their employees are happy; they still work for the company. Right?

The average working Americans spend eight hours or more in a day working to help support their families. Some people love their jobs, others just tolerate theirs. Either way, it is a big part of your life.

If it is recommended to balance home life, shouldn’t work be too? Your income source plays a significant role in your “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” So, if you are not happy with your employer, ask yourself why. The first complaint would be the pay. It may be tempting to leave a company seeking more pay, hoping the grass is greener. Are wages the only factor into gainful employment?

These days pay is extremely important but dig a bit deeper into your company’s values and beliefs. How is the company genuinely running? Does it match your moral code? Are you stressed solely due to pay, or perhaps you often must bend your values, all because that is your income source to support your family? Ask yourself if the golden rule of “treat others the…
